Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
The dramatic play center is popular in my prekindergarten classroom. We have wonderful dress-up clothes, but no real place to store these beloved items, so they end up being packed and unpacked in boxes each day when play center time comes. The dress-up center with mirrors will become home to the materials that support my students' imaginative play. Often, students act out stories we've read in class, which supports oral language development in young children. I have requested 4 picture books, 3 of which are in Spanish, to give all my students, including my Spanish speakers, even more stories to bring to life.
What I love most about my students is how they can turn the simplest activity into an adventure!
These four and five-year-old scholars play hard, which means our classroom, after housing their energy and creativity for 7 hours each day, needs a lot of TLC! With the right tools, like a durable vacuum, disinfecting wipes, and a waterproof rug for under our sensory table, my team and I will keep our room fresh, clean, and ready for each day's adventures.
This year is my second year of public school teaching, and I am thrilled to add both a STEM and an art center to my classroom! I am requesting an outer space rug to sit on as they dig for dinosaur skeletons and practice their fine motor skills with the screwdriver set. I am also requesting paint, a drying rack, a paper organizer, and construction paper so my students are able to engage in process art and artistic expression all year long!
