My Students

Our school is a Title I school in a rural community. The school is 100% free or reduced-price lunch with a free after-school program to help with homework (pre-Covid) and provide extra time for computer use as most do not have the Internet at home. Our class serves students with a range of disabilities, including intellectual disabilities, emotional disturbances, autism spectrum disorder and specific learning disabilities The students are hard-working. Most of the students in my third-grade class read below grade level by two years.

The class is made up of mostly low income families.

Students receive backpack buddies for the weekend. Despite these circumstances, they continue to make growth in their education. Most will increase reading levels by 2 to 5 levels throughout the year.

My Project

These supplies will be used at school. However, they could easily transition to home as needed. Giving my student binders, pencils, pencil sharpeners, and headsets will allow low income students to have basic supplies for school.

Basic school supplies will ensure my students basic needs of some supplies will be met.

My students are 100% free and reduced lunch. Most of my students are from low income families. The school is a rural title 1 school. These students' needs are greater than basic supplies, but this will give them a good start for the year.
