My Project
My goal is to supply my students with resources that I know they will need to be successful. My students are located in an urban setting in a small, close knit school in Flint, MI. Our school is like a family, however, most of the time, my students do not always have the necessary materials needed to start the school year off strong. This fact does not deter their passion for learning. Last year when I was able to provide all supplies for my students, I could see the relief and joy on their family's faces. My students didn't have to worry about being singled out or not having what they needed to thrive.
I am asking for very basic school supplies such as notebooks, pencils, markers, and light snacks to help them get through the day.
I frequently keep my closet stocked with snacks. This continues to be a huge cost and any donation can help keep my students full and focused.
I also am asking for a set of Bingo games to help support my student's math skills in a more exciting way. 4th grade introduces skills such as equivalent fractions, decimals, and division which take a lot of perseverance and practice to master. We have many indoor recesses due to Michigan's intense winters and lack of proper winter clothes. These will give us a fun way to review math skills.
I truly believe having the support and supplies necessary took a large amount of stress off of the students last year so they could focus on their education. I want to provide this opportunity for my future students this fall.
