Help me give my students the knowledge that their school community sees them and is willing to provide warmth. Our building is poorly insulated and the rooms are cold. I, as adult who is moving around the room constantly, find the rooms freezing. Imagine being a student in that same room who has had to sit for 30-45 minutes straight. I see my students shivering and sitting with their arms in their shirts trying hard to pay attention. These sweaters will help my students fill their basic need of warmth, so they can focus on the material they need to be successful in school.
Most of my students come from a background that does not always have extra money for new sweaters for growing children. Especially, after paying bills and buying other necessities to live. This is why I am asking for your support!
Due to COVID-19, I know I will need to take extra steps to keep my students safe. My plan would be to have a hamper and wash the sweaters after every use. This way my students would not be sharing sweaters. I will use gloves and a mask to keep myself safe as well.
