My students are so deserving, but we lack the basic supplies we need to do work in our classes. To help with our projects, we need items like scissors, glue, pencils and a paper trimmer to use in class.
Our school community is a rural public high school in Hawaii.
My students have mild and moderate disabilities, and all of my students qualify for special education. We are in a high poverty area with many students qualifying for free lunch. Many live with single parents, relatives or foster parents. Despite these challenges, my students are bright, and many aspire to go to college.
My Project
Every year I contribute to my students in small ways - from replacing worn out binders and folders to providing pens and pencils for use in class. However, I have many students and limited resources. For special needs students, school can be challenging. It is even more challenging when students don't have the basic tools they need.
I teach physical science, marine science and food science.
To engage the students, I try to offer as many hands-on activities as possible but to do this we need supplies. Please support my students by helping us obtain basic classroom supplies which we will use to facilitate our classwork. Thank you for your time and consideration!
