This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
This year brings about a new change for myself, a new school and new grade level! I will be teaching a homeroom of 25 5th graders who come from a variety of backgrounds and have a variety of experiences. We will work together to grow a strong classroom community that will better us all!
The school itself sits in a neighborhood that is considered historic and is home to many ESL families.
Our school is a Title 1 community that desires to serve and grow our students.
My Project
The biggest needs at the beginning of the year? Supplies, and things to spruce up the room! This supply of pencils and erasers will hopefully hold us over for the majority, if not all year, the same for the erasers. Tissues are a constant need and I would love to start us off with a stash.
The paper, magnetic clips, and bulletin board push pins will allow our bulletin boards and walls to hold student work, or for me to create bulletin boards that will show strategies that we are currently learning.
The lights will add a bit of ambiance against harsh fluorescent lights.
