This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach in a Title I school where over 95% of our students live under poverty. Many of the families are migrant farm workers. Their parents work very hard on the fields. Most of our students are English Language Learners. They lack experiences that most people has as a child. Even though my students have many barriers that the "average student" does not, they show up everyday eager to learn!

They have so little at home that they get excited about every project and activity we do in school, no matter how small it might be.

My Project

With this new school year quickly approaching, I am so excited to meet my new student and want to have a class that is fully functional and sets the stage for learning.

I am missing a few classroom basics, with your help my students will be getting classroom supplies that are needed to enhance learning and play.

Some of the basics I've requested include: Lysol wipes, clip boards, dry erase markers, chart paper, a chart tablet, and a badminton kit.

Germs are no joke in third grade, with these lysol wipes we will be able to keep our classroom surfaces as germ free as possible. Students can't sit at a desk all day long and do their best learning. Students need to move, explore and learn all around the room and outside as well with clipboards we will be able to record our learning where ever we are! We will use dry erase markers in all subject areas for whole group lessons, partner work, and through out the day for many learning activities. Chart paper is a classroom essential, with this we will be able to record our learning and post it around the room, then students will be able to reference back and support their learning. The chart tablet will be used for our word work and we will continue to add on to it throughout the school year. Last but not least how we need to PLAY, to add to our recess bin I requested a badminton kit, with this my students will be able to learn a new sport and practice their skills during recess.
