My Students
My students are incredible. They are vibrant and funny. They bring life into the classroom and love to engage in lessons and ask thoughtful questions. I teach in New Jersey which is an urban district, hence, many of my students come from poverty or low-income families, yet they bring with them a love of making connections between my history lessons and things that are happening in the outside world. Some of my students are intellectually curious while others need a little more of a push. Many students are very doubtful in the beginning that history can be a fun subject. However, as time passes and I get up on desks and do whatever I need to to make history come alive, so do the students.
I love my students and recognize that they have many needs.
They come to my classroom from a variety of environments with very specific needs that must be met in order for them to learn. I want my classroom to be a safe and inviting space for my students where they can recharge and learn interesting and necessary things about our country's past.
My Project
I've been teaching for 5 years now and I've been moved from having my own classroom to being on a cart, to sharing a room due to various changes in staff and space. This year I will have the privilege of my own classroom. Your support will help me to provide a safe, organized, and inviting space for my students.
I have been doing a lot of research into flexible seating as a tool to help students learn in different ways.
My classroom management plan this year includes developing lessons that incorporate different methods of learning. Your investment in these supplies will allow me to diversify my lessons to meet the various needs of my students and provide them with a better education.
