This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are amazing. They come to school prepared to learn and try their best to achieve our high expectations every day.
Our school is located in a low-income area with most students receiving free or reduced-price lunch.
Most of my Intervention students have limited resources outside of school, so school may provide their only chance to experience strategic and engaging academic activities. My goal, every year, is to create a learning environment that is warm, safe, and inviting while having high expectations for my Intervention students' success. Many of my students are reading at least one year below grade level. It is so important that my Intervention students attend school everyday to receive the extra help they need. Since my students will start the year with Distance Learning, it is even more important they have materials to use at home for now, then transition to in-school learning.
My Project
My project will get the most basic school supplies to my students who are starting the school year at home. They need whiteboards, markers, magnetic letters and more to be successful. The best part is that these materials will easily transition to school when we resume in-person learning!
My Intervention students need daily interaction with letters, words, and sentences.
These materials will give them hands-on practice at home in a fun and organized way that many of them have used in class. Parents will easily be able to help and support their children with these basic materials.
