Lively, energetic, and kind are three words I would use to describe our young learners. Every day, they do their best to achieve all that they can. Our students desperately want to be actively involved in what they do in the classroom.
Living in a large city can be difficult for many young children.
My young learners live close to the downtown area in our city. They go to a Title I school, where all students receive free breakfast and lunch daily. Their basic food needs, except for dinner, are taken care of, but now they need something to sustain their minds.
The beginning of the school year should be a happy time for children; however, some kids just don't have the means to get what they need to start the school year out.
Providing students with crayons, and erasers will be a start in helping them to bridge the gap in for the year.
These items, along with pencils, scissors, and glue will be added to the storage bins at each table for students to use. They will be distributed on the first day of school.
Students need to have what is necessary to be productive in a classroom. The erasers will be used daily as they are writing, revising, and completing math problems. The crayons will be used as they decorate projects and illustrate their writing.
