This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

August through October it was rare to have more than a student absent; now, the norm is 3-5 a day. Runny noses, coughs, and sniffles are chasing my students away and I need them back!

My students are eager to learn but at times struggle with the basics.

They are low-income, government assisted families that can, at times, barely take care of their household much less afford to send extra materials to school. Our school is about 95% free or reduced lunch with free breakfast in the classroom daily.

My Project

My students need hand sanitizer, disinfecting wipes, and facial tissues to keep us from spreading germs and chapstick to heal our poor, cracked lips this winter season. My students will use these resources to meet their everyday needs of blowing noses, sanitizing high traffic surfaces in our classroom and keeping their hands germ free. This will help ensure student health and therefore, better attendance. When a student is in attendance they are getting the education and support they need to be successful.

These life essentials would also keep us from spreading germs and sickness therefore preventing students from missing entire days of instruction.

I had one student out with the flu for the entire week last week and another 3 go home sick today. These germ-fighting materials would help keep my students healthy and at school.
