Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

I work with a still increasing class of 25 2nd graders in a very low income school. These students are ambitious and eager to demonstrate their knowledge.

Working with children from low income neighborhoods there are many things these students learn to work without. Being a first year teacher I spent most of my personal money setting up the classroom and now I am in need of basic supplies for my students.

Everyday my students demonstrate that they understand my lesson through one of the following: writing their answers on white boards I made for them, working together to write answers on chart paper to display around the school, or doing individual worksheets. All of these supplies are running out and it is only October.

Please support my class and show these students that they deserve everything their peers in wealthier neighborhoods take for granted. These supplies are very costly for me yet vital to their success.
