Back to Basics - Necessary Supplies For My Students!
My students need basic supplies such as notebooks for writer's workshop, pencils, scissors, highlighters, and mini clocks in order to complete the activities when do in class.
Anyone who knows me personally, knows that I talk about my students more than anything. I just can't help it. They're constantly on my mind and in my heart. My students come to school daily with smiles, handshakes, high fives, and hugs ready for me. They come in ready to tell me all about their football game on Saturday, how much they read over the weekend, or where they got to go with their family. They are the lights of my life and I am SO blessed to be their teacher.
I teach at a Title I school in North Carolina where 100 percent of our students receive free breakfast and lunch.
My students all come from different backgrounds/environments. The majority of my students often come to school lacking the supplies that they need to work successfully. It is my goal to provide them with love, as well as they tools they need to succeed.
My Project
I really want to start incorporating a love for writing in my students. I would love for my students to have their very own writer's workshop notebooks. However, I need to be the one to provide these to them. They also need highlighters to help them go back in text and find evidence when answering questions that will prepare them for the EOG's.
Without me working to provide these basic supplies, some of my students would not have access to them.
I would love to be able to provide them with the supplies they need to complete their best work. My students have been struggling some with telling time as well, and I think that having a hands-on manipulative will aide in their understanding.
