Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are amazing! They come to school prepared to learn and try their best to achieve our high expectations every day. My students will use these dry erase markers with our previously Donors Choose donated lap boards. First graders write every day, and we need a good supply of writing tools. My students use the markers and boards during phonics, spelling, and math lessons. This will allow me to see my students' thinking and quickly catch any errors. First graders love to color and create, so we will use the colored pencils and glue sticks to further their artistic expression. Our school is located in a low-income area with most students receiving free or reduced-price lunch.
Most of my first-grade students have limited resources outside of school, so school may provide their only chance to experience strategic and engaging academic activities.
My goal, every year, is to create a learning environment that is warm, safe, and inviting while having high expectations for my first-grade students' success. Many of my students are English Language Learners and it is so important that they attend school every day to receive the extra help they need. My students will start the year in school and it is so important to keep my classroom safe and clean for them. I also want my classroom to be a warm and engaging place for my students to learn. These new supplies will help me do it all!
