This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I serve as the Dean of students for grade 6, 7, and 8. We are a Title 1 school and the students we serve come from low-income families. It is my priority to serve our students' mental, emotional, and physical needs. Our students require basic school needs in order to be prepared for what the school year has to offer. This is not easy for all of our families.

Our students deserve to be prepared to face a world that is ever changing.

We want to ensure our students do not have to worry about not having, ensure our students are not experiencing food insecurity, and ensure they're given what is necessary for proper hygiene. We treat our students like they are our own children because we really are a family school.

My Project

Getting backpacks is not always easy for our students. They often use plastic string bags to carry their books. These often fall apart and rip. We are a Title 1 school and we believe we should provide students with whatever they need to be successful. Help me get our students backpacks so that they are ready to meet their school needs.

Every students deserves to have a secure way to carry their books.

With these backpacks, our student will not have to worry about how they will carry their belongings.
