My students are awesome! They are always thirsty for a challenge and looking for ways to make connections from one thing they learn to the next. My class is truly diverse with families from all over the world, and they love to share their experiences.
What is so very special about my class is that they recognize their individuality and appreciate each other for who they are.
They encourage each other every step of the way, and will not let anyone fall behind.
My students need a lot of structure, so it is challenging for them to keep tabs on what they need to carry in their hands as they transition from one class to the next. As they are reaching the age where they need to learn to be accountable for their own learning, they need a way to keep their materials all in one place so they can keep up with them more easily.
Having their own back-packs will motivate students to be more mindful in taking responsibility for their learning materials.
The "Back-Pack Pact" will add a layer of skills essential developing independence for all learners in school. Having something as simple as a place for students to easily find materials during class, fosters a sense of independence motivating them to find more ways to become accountable for their learning.
