Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are faced with many challenges inside and outside the classroom.
Many of my students come from high poverty and diverse backgrounds (The school is 70% free/reduced lunch).
Academically they are currently below grade level in reading and we are working to close the achievement gap. My primary goal is to give them exposure to a variety of high interest, relevant reading material that will engage them. Our focus is on growth and learning in order to raise students to their highest potential.
My Project
Our Girls Golf Team is continuing to grow and develop. Many of our student-athletes are playing the game for the first time. With that in mind we are in need of materials that enable our team to train, even when we can't be on the course. We are excited to improve as golfers and represent our school.
Working on our short game and swing alignment will pay dividends on the course and in our matches.
Teaching and working with our young ladies helps them with their confidence and is introducing them to a sport they can play for a lifetime.
