Back in the Classroom after Hurricane Harvey! Yay!
My students need a carpet for our read aloud area, a wobble chair for those who need flexible seating, and pencils for our classroom! We are not letting Hurricane Harvey stop our love for reading!

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
What makes my ELL students special is that they make any place feel warm and welcoming. Being a Bilingual teacher, I feel a cultural background connection with my students who come from Spanish-speaking homes just like me. Our town is a small suburban neighborhood located in northeast Houston, Texas. Our school encourages special events and keeps parents notified of any school event or notification through phone calls and e-mails. Our principals do many things to make our school both comfortable and comforting. It is our job as teachers to do the same in our classrooms!
My goal of 21st century learning is to become more student-centered, empowering my ELL students to decide how they learn best.
In a world of introverts, extroverts, collaborators, lone wolves, dreamers, and designers, we can’t merely cater to a single type of learner. I would appreciate your support to accommodate different students’ needs.
Your donations will give my ELL students to recover from being displaced to a nearby church because of Hurricane Harvey by receiving a new reading area. The wobble chair would be a flexible seating accommodation for my students for student-teacher conferences and individual instruction or simply for independent reading.
My Project
My ESL students will benefit from the carpet to sit during their read aloud time and independent reading time. They would also enjoy the wobble chair for those students who prefer flexible seating!
Pencils are also always needed in the classroom for our reading responses!
After being displaced at a nearby church because of Hurricane Harvey, we have lost so much instructional time; However, we are ready to embrace this new semester and this new year 2018 back in our classroom and in our reading area!
The church has been more their home than our classroom, but now that we are back at our campus, my goal is to create a comfortable, flexible seating classroom for my readers! I am thrilled to be back in my classroom after 5 months and I am sure my students will feel like home very soon as soon as I complete this project and create the perfect classroom for them! :)
