Energetic,Inspiring,Eager and Challenging are the words that come to mind when I think of my kk, 1st and 6th grade babies! My students are hungry for knowledge and EAGER to discover the world around them yet unseen by their curious minds! They CHALLENGE me daily because they force me to be a better "me" than before; yes patience is a virtue ladies and gentlemen! My desire to show up and show out for them has driven me to be someone who can lead and inspire them in despite of the socioeconomical hardships they face everyday. They INSPIRE me. They show me what they are capable of against all odds! Their energy is what drives them to do their best and drives me to do my best! Ninety-nine percent of students in our school qualify for reduced lunch. We are centered in a high poverty area, but that does not define us! We believe in ourselves because We Can Achieve.
I aim to make my classroom a place where my kids can feel inspired, and challenged just as they make me.
Our school is a historical school that has been around since 1911! Wow! While that is a very awesome fact and something to be proud about, we want to ensure that this building which has served as the venue for enriching so many minds of our past will serve as a venue for enriching our students today in the 21st Century!
The tablets and authentic texts that I am requesting will play an integral role and be used as an interactive tool for gaining proficiency in the Spanish language while also ensuring that students are acclimated to learning with technology in adherence to the common core stands for education.
A Printer will grant me the ability to print our work packets for my students to read and reference. It will also allow me to scaffold lessons according to my students' unique needs. Due to limited funds, some teachers here at Cummings School do not have printers in their classrooms. Teachers who do not must submit requests for printed materials that may take time to receive. This is understandable as we should reserve those resources for core classes, However, as result, students must record all information to reference. I have realized from my experience that this takes up valuable class time. It would be advantageous to have a printer readily available.
Lastly, I am requesting the inflatable chairs to place in my reading center for comfort and inspiration. I aim to make my room a cozy yet well suited atmosphere for learning. When I look at other successful schools, that is classrooms that achieve their yearly goals,I observe that students have taken pleasure in centers like these. I would like for my students to be awarded the same leisure comfort and inspiration that I think they deserve.
