My Students
I have the privilege to support the special education students in a 3rd grade integrated co-teaching class. Nestled in the bustling community of East Flatbush, my school is humbly in service to neighboring temporary housing shelters, my school truly serves a safe place of love and support for some of Brooklyn's most resilient students.
Many of our students are more experienced in the hardships of adult life than the joys of exploring knowledge and being a child.
We want to empower our students to unlock their true potential in a variety of ways, that works best to the individual student.
With the unknown facing our students daily, I know that our school provides stability in the lives of our students'. The mission of our school is to educate the WHOLE child so they know they'll be loved, cared for, and taught to be exceptional scholars.
My Project
These materials will help students who are having financial difficulties have equity in the resources they are exposed to in order to bridge the gap and over come learning loss from the time spent learning remotely. In addition, these 3rd grade students were last in class during their 1st grade year so there is plenty classroom behaviors that were unlearned during the time remote. Much positive behavior reinforcements are necessary to help the students as the return to full time in person learning. This will help bring excitement back into the classroom.
