My students walk into my classroom excited and ready to learn. I teach PreK and Kindergarten Dual Language Immersion (DLI) Spanish. They are learning a new language whether it is English or Spanish. This is a new program that is half in Spanish and half in English. The students are a diverse group who are learning two languages.
I want my DLI students to have a great experience while learning the Spanish language and culture.
My job is to help them achieve and be successful in school. I see them getting excited and more confident every day.
My school is in a small city in Wisconsin. The students come from poverty-stricken, high absenteeism homes. Our school meets expectations according to the state and we have received eight years of Wisconsin School of Recognition.
Winter is here in Wisconsin. Students go outside to play at recess but many do not have the clothing essentials they need to stay warm outside.
Please help give my students hats, scarves, and mittens to stay warm outside.
The students also break or lose their masks daily so it would be nice to have extras in the classroom.
The students do not realize how important it is to keep their head and hands warm. I have given them all the leftover gloves, hats, and mittens that were left in my room. They still do not all have what they need for outside this winter. Snow is on the horizon and these clothing items are desperately needed.
