Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are explorers, mathematicians, scientists, and authors! They love to learn and experience the world around them through hands-on activities.
My students are enthusiastic, fun-loving and energetic learners!
They are learning to make smart choices and to solve their own problems. They love to teach each other and to work together to meet their learning goals.
My students are always active and engaged in learning. They learn best when they are actively participating in their own learning. This project will help our class do just that!
My Project
My students are learning how baby animals are alike and different from their parents. They need various art materials to create baby insects based on the known traits of their bug parents. They will use egg cartons to form the bodies of a baby insects and will use pipe cleaners to form antennae and legs. The pom-poms will be used to create insect body parts and the google-eyes will add eyes to the creations. Markers will be used to add authentic colors to the bug creations. If the Mommy bug and the Daddy bug both have green antennae, for example, then the baby bug will also have green antennae.
My students will have the opportunity to build models of baby bugs based on the traits of their parents.
This project will help support Next Generation Science Standards through inquiry based learning! We can't wait to get started!
