Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Come join the fun. We have volleyball, kickball, dodge ball and tumbling. We play soccer, pickleball, football and tennis. Our students also engage in fitness, jump rope, baseball and scooter activities. But what we need is more equipment for non traditional games such as hacky-sack and fling-sock.
Our school is located in the heart of a large metropolitan city in the state of Washington..
The setting is a culturally diverse school with students from over 20 countries. They speak over 15 different languages. We serve over 250 kids. The majority of our population has lived in the US less than 2 years. Many of them have been here for only a few months. And some of our kids have not been in a formal educational setting before, let alone a PE class. So they are fortunate and will get to experience a quality physical education program at our school.
My Project
The school’s goal is to provide as many traditional “American activities” for our students as possible. We’d like our kids to get introduced to such sports as football, soccer, weight training and fitness, volleyball, baseball, kickball, tennis, gymnastics, juggling, parachute games. But we also want them to be exposed to non traditional games such as hacky-sack, potato sack races, cageball, fling-sock and foam noodle games, as well as other games. So we need to get a teachers alternative game manual and some portable soccer goals. This will help the teacher learn new and exciting cooperative learning games for us to play in the gym when the weather turns rainy outside.
Please help us, help our non American born students develop the passion for PE and lifetime fitness.
With the help of Nickelodeon and Webkinz world wide day at play matching funds this project can become a reality. They love to try new activities and games. Your donation will be greatly appreciated.
