This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I am a first year teacher at a Title 1 school in the inner city of Portsmouth, Virginia where 100% of my students receive free breakfast and lunch. My students are very loving and energetic. They love reading and the ability to gain new knowledge of word recongintion. My students need seating for the classroom.
My school is actively involved in the community bringing supplies and food to our students throughout the year.
Despite the hardships that my students face daily they come to school ready and eager to learn. I can imagine the smile and excitement they will receive from these gifts .
My Project
The items I requested for my class would benefit my students and I. We do a lot of fun activities in class that require a lot of time cutting papers . The paper cutter would go great in our classroom to save the teacher and students time. We also would love a 120 chart to keep on the dry Estes board to help us with adding and subtracting. We can reference the chart while doing our class work. We will use that chart through all mathematical activities. The students would love the giant magnetic ten frame set for us to work out problems on the board.
