Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Our students have significant special needs. Some of them are verbal and can move by themselves and some of them do not speak and use wheel chairs to move.

They each have wonderful personalities and we want to support them as best we can.

All of our students require being taught in specialized educational settings. They are taught in self-contained classrooms with like peers.

Our students benefit from a separate place where they can relax away from their educational setting. They would really benefit from a better developed space.

My Project

Each day our students visit our sensory room. It is a place for them to decompress away from the classroom.

We want to create a space where our students can go to relax.

Some of our students move on their own and others are in wheelchairs. The multi-sensory rainbow and plush cat fidget toy would be great for the students in wheelchairs. The Body Sox and CoolSand kit would be great for the students that can move on their own.

We also want the room to have an overall calming mood. We are painting the walls and would really appreciate the light filters.
