FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Webb's classroom raised $509
This project is fully funded
In my class we do a lot of hands on Science and Math. I like having additional resources so that my students can build upon the skills we are studying in both subjects. I do this through my Math and Science centers. I would like to order materials which will enrich our classroom centers.
During our Microworlds unit, my students use 30x magnification microscopes. I would like to place a higher powered microscope in the Science center, so students can examine materials at even higher magnifications. During our unit on simple machines, students create their own levers using meter rulers and binder clips. I would like to place K'NEX intro to simple machines sets in the center, where students can build more life like levers and pulleys. By providing my students with materials like those mentioned above, science will become more engaging, and it's real life applications will become more apparent to my students.
I would like for my math center to focus on skill building games. Games which will build around the strategies we study during our regular math time. For instance, I would like to purchase Factor Frenzy to aid my students at multiplying and dividing. I would like to order a probability and statistics kit to aid my students in gathering data, making predictions and drawing conclusions.
I teach in a Chicago Public school. I teach Math, Science, Reading, Writing and Social Studies in my fifth grade classroom. All 27 of my students work daily in our centers. These materials for our Math and Science centers will greatly enrich our learning community.
