Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I get to see students in grades K-8 and they all walk into the music room buzzing with excitement!
So far, the number one thing I've heard from all the kids entering the music room is, "I want to play an instrument!"
I want them to be able to play instruments that sound good too!
My Project
We have been doing a deep dive into 2 of the basic elements of music: beat and rhythm.
These instruments are perfect for enabling students to get a good drum sound the first time they try to play.
They are also very versatile. The heads of these drums can be removed easily, transforming them from a drum that is played resting on the floor to a handheld frame drum (something we are also lacking in numbers in the music room).
With these drums, we'll be able to work on rhythmic lessons and performances of all kinds. With a resonant low end drum sound that will be easy to attain by kids of all ages, the Remo Versa Nesting Tubanos will get them rocking in no time!
