My Students

I have the best job in the world. I get to come to school every day and work with the best grade ever....Kindergarten! My students come to school every morning with smiles on their faces and wonderful stories to tell me. They are always excited and ready to learn. Within my culturally diverse classroom population, each one of my students brings a positive part of themselves to add to our classroom dynamics. We are also very fortunate to have a school where hard work has been put into creating a safe and welcoming environment where every child feels accepted and a member of our school community.

My Kindergarten students are amazing builders.

They like to use their imagination and utilize the various types of materials available in classroom to create awesome structures. Within the small building groups, each student is practicing the life skills of cooperation, problem solving, initiative, active listening and flexibility. It is so much fun observing them build and finally seeing their finished structure.

My Project

Kindergarten is sometimes the first formal school leaning experience for a child. It is also a place where the children are introduced to an environment where there are other children from different backgrounds and experiences. They will learn to work with and find solutions to their problem with a partner or small group for the first time.

Building is a perfect activity to help children work together towards a common goal.

Not only will the children practice important life long life skills but they will have fun doing it. My students will be able to experience and learn about cause and effect first hand when building with the "Create-A-Chain Reaction STEM Kit" and practice their problem solving skills when building with the Magna-Tiles to determine the best cause of action to complete their structures.

In addition to assisting our future engineers and scientists succeed, we need to help them become proficient readers and communicators. Kindergarten is where we begin with introducing letters and sounds and move towards reading words and writing to express our individual thoughts and ideas. We try to individualize our reading program with the students having their own book boxes to store the books. The Leveled Library Mobile Storage Cart will help my students store their student made books, leveled books and trade books.
