This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
My first-grade authors are just beginning to write. They use their sounds to form words and sentences, and they also draw illustrations to match their stories.
These supplies will be used during the Writer's Workshop so that students can learn the stages of writing: plan, create, revise, edit, and publish.
Students move through 3 stations during Writer's Workshop. They learn penmanship, spelling, and writing. We usually write about the thematic topic we are studying. Today we wrote about milk/dairy products because we are studying nutrition. Students think about the topic and write basic sentences. I give them one thing to improve such as "Add periods" or "You forgot a word." Finally, they illustrate their work.
On Fridays, we share our writing with the class. Your generous donation will provide important writing materials; clipboards, pencils, and notebooks. Your help will make us Awesome Authors!
