Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Can you help my kindergarten students become engaged readers? Each year, most of my students come to school with limited exposure to literacy concepts. Help them become excited about learning letters and sight words by supporting my project!
I love my school!
The teachers are amazing, but the students are even more incredible. My kindergarten students brighten each and every day with their smiles and excitement about school and learning. I am amazed with their determination and strength at overcoming challenges at school and at home. I love teaching literacy and get such a thrill in seeing how much my students progress in reading throughout the school year.
Our school is located urban Colorado. More than three-quarters of our class will be beginning English language learners. Over 90% of our school receives free and reduced lunch. Our school has a goal of supporting each student in becoming globally minded.
My Project
Letter games, letter art activities, sight word stamps, letter peg boards, and play dough letter cut outs are just some of the resources needed for my classroom. These resources will be used daily to provide exciting opportunities to work with letters and sight words. Because these resources are so much fun, my students will love to use them each day. The resources will support them in learning letters and sight words earlier in the school year, which will develop fluent readers.
Most importantly, I plan to use these resources in small or individual groups of struggling students. Keeping struggling students motivated to learn is a challenge. By using new resources that are amusing and enjoyable to the students, they will be motivated to learn. These resources can also be used when I tutor struggling readers after school or by a paraprofessional who is working with struggling students from my classroom.
If you donate to my project, you will be supporting students in early literacy skills when the odds seem to be against them in becoming proficient readers.
Please support my project and help my students develop a foundation and love of reading. Kindergarten is such a vital time to attract students to discovery, knowledge, and the importance of education. Thank you!
