Help me give my students a little cheer during this difficult time. These are my AVID students who connect like family and have been pulled apart during their final year of middle school together.
I am an AVID teacher for one of my periods in the day. I get to work with 21 amazing 8th-grade students who have elected to take the AVID class as part of their daily schedule. This class focuses on college and career readiness.
When students become a part of AVID, they become a part of a strong support group for each other.
The change to Distance Learning has separated us and many of the students will go off to different high schools next year. Students are currently completing their classes online from home and will through the remainder of the year. The sudden change to the year has been very difficult for our students.
My Project
I would like to buy the following items for my students to send them a little cheer. Some of the items like the stylus and charger will be used to help keep them prepared as we continue distance learning and are 1:1 with iPads. Some of the items included all have personal touches related to our time together in the classroom. For example, we used Pringles to work together to make a large chip ring.
The students were in their final year of middle school together and our AVID group is tight like family.
Next year they will go off to different high schools around the Twin Cities and I want them to know how much I appreciate our AVID class community.
