My students are 7th and 8th graders in Klamath Falls, OR. We are a "young" AVID school, and growing in our AVID practices. Our students are bright and capable, but often need motivation and encouragement to follow through and see their full potential. Our students thrive on "ownership" geared projects, where they see the worth and reward in their effort and time.
My Project
These materials will help my students personalize their year-long AVID Science Notebooks! AVID is a school-wide program with the mission "to close the achievement gap by preparing all students for college readiness and success in a global society." We are focusing on improving our students' organizational and note-taking skills by implementing school-wide AVID binders and subject specific notebooks. These skills will greatly help them in their future high school and career studies.
To help my students gain more ownership in their science notebooks, I plan to have them decorate the cover of their notebooks with craft paper, stickers, stamps, and other art supplies.
I have all I need, except for the craft paper. The sticky paper I have listed can also be used on notebooks, as well as any left over on the walls of my very old classroom.
