Students will use the insect choice chambers to learn about insect's behaviors. One of the simplest behaviors of an insect is movement and these chambers allow students to control the environment and make observations. The chambers are designed so that the animal will be placed in the middle and students will change one side of the tube to experiment what an animal prefers. This inquiry lab will allow students to challenge themselves and design their own labs. Students will have the opportunity to design the chambers to test habitat preference or food preference. Because these chambers are reusable we will be able to run many experiments on each insect for years to come. This hands-on inquiry-based approach will develop students critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
