Aviary Restoration Project: Save Our Birds!

My students need help in restoring an old, dilapidated aviary. The trees, bird bath, natural perches and cage supplies requested in this project will provide the buildings blocks for creating an indoor habitat in the aviary.

My Students

My students bring joy into my life and I look forward to seeing their fresh young faces every single day. They represent our future and nothing could make me happier!

The students in my middle school are curious, eager learners who apply their knowledge to situations in the real world.

They also love to see examples of what they learn in the world around them. They are community minded and take action to participate in service projects to serve the school and local community.... it is so wonderful to see a generation of leaders emerging in our midst!!

My Project

We have an old, dilapidated aviary on the premises of our school. It used to be a center point for student activity but has fallen into disrepair. I have created a community project where all students can have a hand in restoring the structure and help in caring for the birds. So far, we have painted and decorated the outside of the structure, have added some parakeets and finches, and we have even had baby finches born this past spring!

Our dream is to now restore the inside of the aviary in order to make it a venue for learning about the birds and their ecosystem.

The trees I am requesting will provide a safe haven for our birds to nest and play in. They will give the aviary a natural feel. The bird perches, bird bath, and bird feeders will add to the natural ecosystem feeling we are trying to create inside the space and allow students to view the birds in a more natural habitat.
