Autobiography of Malcolm X: Bring Back Literacy!

Help me give my students an opportunity to better their literacy. I have an AVID class, which is a college prep program, and I'm hoping to for students to improve their reading and writing.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I'm an AVID teacher of current Freshmen and soon to be sophomore students. We have a cohort model meaning I will follow the students through until graduation. I'm hoping to improve the literacy of my students so they can be best prepared to answer future PIQs from universities and write their best possible personal statements. One way of bettering their reading and writing will be through reading the literary classic: the autobiography of Malcolm X.

Students will complete and decorate a one-pager with wall to wall color based on the key themes of the book, outstanding quotes, how the book changed their perspective on the Civil Rights movement, and more.
