Autistic Support Class In Need of LCD Projector

My students need an LCD projector which will be used to enhance their learning by using videos, student response system, and providing a visual support to my lessons.

My Students

"A picture is worth a 1,000 words" This is so true for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder who often see the world in pictures. It is so important for our students to get this LCD projector so that I can enhance their learning with visual supports.

My students are outstanding young men.

They love to learn new things and are always striving to do their best. Though they receive their education in an autistic support setting in the public school, they never use their disability as an excuse. As high school students they are all working very hard toward an opportunity to go to college or to work full time.

My Project

The LCD projector that I am requesting will allow my students to see things as we talk about them. They will be able to take a trip around the world with this new projector as we will be studying world geography and learning about the lives of people in other countries. They will also be transported back in time to the Civil War as they experience what life was like for the soldiers and those at home. They will be able to work on social, occupational, and independent living skills and watch videos of actual scenarios. The use of a student response system I have will allow them to answer questions without the pressure of wondering what others will think as all answers are anonymous. This device would open up a tremendous amount of opportunities for my students.

Today new numbers were released for the number of children with Autism in the USA and the new number is 1 in 50 students will be diagnosed or have been diagnosed with an Autism Spectrum Disorder.
