This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My class is an energetic, excited, and overwhelmingly enthusiastic group of Kindergartners. They love coming to school and interacting with their peers and teachers. They are a funny, dedicated, and inquisitive group of students who run into the classroom and don't want to leave! They are four and five-year-old students who need lessons and activities to keep them engaged in learning. Our school is a new school with pre-kindergarten through second-grade students. Our school has a high population of English Language Learners, Special Education students, and students from various cultural backgrounds. Our students need a high level of support for them to learn at their best.

My Project

My young students have a hard time learning in the traditional way. They require hands on, engaging lessons to help them learn at their best. During our phonics instruction, my autistic students have a hard time learning sight words. I want to play Sing and Spell sight word DVD's to help them learn sight words in an engaging way. These DVD's have the students up and moving while they sing and dance to the sight word songs.

Having my Autistic students move, dance and sing will help them learn their sight words.

Special education students and most boys have a hard time learning while sitting still. These singing and dancing DVD's will help them learn more because they will be moving and dancing. I am also requesting carts to organize their sight word games and activities for phonics centers.
