My Students

My students attend a rural elementary school outside the city limits of Jacksonville. The school has been opened since 1994, when there was a student body of 700 students. Most of the student body comes from military backgrounds. These parents work hard each day to help keep our country safe.

My students (all students) have individual learning needs and through a differentiated learning environment and various learning tools, I can help my students reach success.

I have an inclusive classroom of 21 students who deserve the very best each and every day.

My Project

My students have many challenges that come their way. Writing is especially hard for my special needs students. There are many tools that help them engage in a difficult task such as writing. Unfortunately, most schools do not have these materials to promote success when it comes to their occupational therapy needs. I want to make sure my student have all the tools they need to to promote risk-free learning environment. I need my students to want to write and enjoy what they are writing. These tools will help all my students to become active writers.

I will use the journals to help them begin to write slowly with the motto of “just give it a try”.

I will use the gum all machine game and magic tracers for guided support. I will use the theraputty and sensory tools to strengthen the hands. The cushions I will use to help them move during the learning process. All students deserve the "write" to a fun experience in school, no matter the challenges they face.
