My Students
My students are unique special needs learners that are very curious, loving and energetic. They carry in grade level from Kindergarten to 1st grade. They are hands on and visual learners that benefit from sensory input and listening to music. My students learn from with the help of stimuli that reward them.
Our school is located in Yonkers, NY where our unique population lacks important classroom materials, furniture and adaptive equipment useful for learning and physical activity.
All kids learn.
My Project
If my project is funded I will be able to facilitate functional routines with my students, such as teaching them how to cut with scissors, learn how to hold a book properly, and how to use their pointer finger under each word, and read as they point using books. I can address each students sensory needs with the sensory shapes manipulative's as well as using the sensory toys for incidental teaching. I can teach student phoncis with the academic materials, giving students one on one attention to assess them. I will have the materials needed to facilitate a learning environment.
