My Students

We are one of the largest elementary schools in the area, serving over 600 students with a very diverse population.

We cater to an on-site Autism Program which consists of two classrooms with students from kindergarten through 5th grade.

We also work with some of the neediest low-income families in our community, serving breakfast and lunch to over 90% of our school through district funded programs.

Our aim is to provide more quality equipment for students to enjoy physical activity and use this equipment to improve not only their skills but also their growth as an individual through sports. This is also something we hope the students can achieve during their recess time.

My Project

We currently cater to an on-campus autism program with 20 students from kindergarten through to 5th grade. So far this year our students have used basic sports equipment. It is our goal to provide them with stimulating and engaging equipment and environments within PE. The sensory balls and the hop along balls would be perfect to cater to some of our more severe autism students in order to stimulate their senses through sports. These students are so intriguingly intelligent in so many areas and a variety of equipment and stimulus within the PE classroom helps to cater to each individual's students' needs. Their current favorites are foam noodles, scooters and any ball that has additional sensory surfaces. The hop along ball is a perfect addition for students to use to build core muscles and enjoy their time in PE!
