it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Magnetic tiles have become a popular and innovative tool for teachers working with students on a variety of math concepts, particularly when it comes to teaching fractions, perimeter, and area.
These colorful, manipulative tiles allow students to physically construct and visualize geometric shapes, which can be extremely beneficial for learners on the autism spectrum who often thrive with hands-on, tactile learning experiences
I plan to use these magnetic tiles to demonstrate fraction equivalency, for instance, by having students build shapes divided into equal parts to represent different fractions. The tiles' magnetic properties also enable students to experiment with perimeter by outlining the edges of shapes, as well as calculate area by covering the interior space.
This kinesthetic approach engages students' senses and spatial reasoning skills in a way that static worksheets or textbook examples cannot. The versatility of magnetic tiles makes them a valuable resource for tailoring math instruction to diverse learners, including those with autism who may struggle with abstract numerical concepts. By transforming fractions, perimeter, and area into tangible, interactive experiences, these magnetic tools empower students to develop a deeper, more meaningful understanding of key mathematical principles.
