My Students

We have multiple students who are significantly affected by Autism who need a quiet home-like environment in order to de-escalate and help with emotional regulation. These students can become very overwhelmed by the school environment if they do not have access to a quiet environment throughout the day. Along with this environment comes trained adult support to further assist with de-escalation. Our environment is an inner-city school with students who may not have a supportive home environment. Please help us meet our goal!

My Project

We are looking to design a safe space for students with Autism within the Autism Focus classroom. The couches, area rug, and coffee table will be the start of our quiet, home-like area that will assist our students with maintaining appropriate emotional regulation throughout the school day. They sometimes need to leave the classroom because they become overwhelmed by the noise, students, and academic expectations in those environments. These materials will help provide students with Autism a safe, home-like environment when they need to relax and de-escalate. Please help us with creating this safe environment for our kids with Autism.
