Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I intend on using these Science/Math Centers and Puppets to engage students in grade level content standards for TK/K and 1st Grade. I currently use a set of finger puppets to engage my kiddos and they responded quite well however they are quite small for the students to see. These Animal Puppets will work well with our existing Puppet Theater Stage. They will help bring my classroom to life in such a fun way that will encourage all students to actively engage in science lessons. I'd like to create science centers for the students to be able to explore concepts of science during our nature walks. While bringing everyday camping essentials into the science center. Students will have the opportunity to explore during dramatic play centers in addition to center based instruction.

Puppets/Dramatic Play Science & Math Centers help to encourage non-verbal students with autism to build confidence in speaking while engaging students in grade level standards (CCSS)Children who are reluctant to speak or may be more willing to talk to a puppet.

Special need students can use the puppets in all subject content, such as English language arts, mathematics, science, history, art, visual performing arts, theater, and physical education. We can sing, count, draw, and act with our hand puppets. Hand puppets will definitely provide tremulously support for students with special needs in helping to facilitate grade level content while incorporating speaking. My students with non-verbal autism feel a little nervous and sad because they don't get to go to school. Puppets are a great way to engage children in social-emotional and academic development.
