Autism Classroom Needs

My students need a therapy ball to address their sensory needs. The ZAGG keyboard will allow access to assistive technology for written expression.

My Students

My classroom is an elementary school high-functioning autism classroom. I am a third-year teacher working on addressing student needs and supports. I work to address independent living skills, social skills, and academic rigor as well.

My students are bright and adventurous!

They are constantly exploring and learning new things. Every day that I get to work with them is an absolute joy. I know they may never know the impact they have had on me the past couple of years but they have and continue to change my life every day. I am so thankful for a career that allows me to work closely with people that see life through a different lens. My students are hard working and brilliant individuals. They love working as a team as they make quite the family as well. They stick up for each other, they love each other, and they work to help each other in all situations.

My Project

My students will use the therapy ball to address sensory needs in the classroom. They will use the ZAGG keyboard for the iPad in order to access the assistive technology used to support their writing. My students will be using a word-prediction software on the iPad called Co-writer. The use of this program on the iPad allows for the program to be taken different places around the school for use.

These donations will improve my classroom by making materials accessible outside of the room as well.

The therapy ball will allow my students to address their sensory needs and take breaks when necessary.
