My Students
"There needs to be a lot more emphasis on what a child can do instead of what he cannot do." Temple Grandin
I work in a classroom of 13 students with autism in a Title I school.
They are boys and girls in grades K, 2nd, and 3rd. These students have a variety of sensory needs. Each students has unique needs and the use of the 3 chair balls, 1 set of seats, and 2 Hooki stools will help them be able to remain calm and focused. These students will also use the Silly Sensory Set and Koosh balls as fidgets to help them remain focused and increase time on task. By meeting their needs, I am able to better teach them and prepare them for the future.
My Project
My students have difficulty sitting still. By using the set of seats, 2 Hokki stools, and 3 chair balls, the students will be more successful in sitting for longer periods of time. Also, by using the Koosh balls and Silly Sensory Set as fidgets the will be able to hold them and increase their attention span. They will be able to focus better as well. All of these things will lead to increased comprehension of learning and better classroom behavior.
By meeting my students' needs, they will be more successful in the classroom.
The students will use the 3 balls, 1 set of wiggle seats, and 2 Hokki stools to help them calm and stay focused throughout the day. Some of the students will also use the Silly Sensory Set and Koosh Balls as fidgets to hold onto when they are working to help keep them focused and relaxed. A comfortable classroom that meets their sensory needs will help my students look forward to learning every day!
