An important part of the writing process is being able to share your work. For many of my students, speaking in front of the class can be a scary thing. Students will tend to hide in their shells and speak quietly when sharing their work with others.
I teach math and writing to some amazing 4th and 6th graders.
I have a variety of students who come from different backgrounds. My philosophy in teaching is to provide as many different opportunities for my kids. I also want to make learning fun for them so that they will become life-long learners.
My Project
I am requesting a karaoke system so that my students can be heard when sharing their work. I have an Author's Chair but the only thing missing is a microphone. My students have produced some excellent work, and it's a shame when the students in the back row aren't able to appreciate it. I believe the speaker will also build confidence when speaking in front of the class and hearing their voice on the speaker.
Having a speaker system in the classroom will help in so many ways.
My primary use would be for publishing our stories but there are also so many other uses. It would be great during language arts when the kids are taking turns reading a section as a class. It would also serve as an excellent motivator for kids who would like to share something in front of the class. My students and I will greatly appreciate this donation.
