This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Mike Curato is a successful author and illustrator who has published children's books on a number of topics. His book, "The Power of One," particularly hit home with my students. It is a story about the importance of kindness, and the ability of one person to make a difference.

The message of this book aligns perfectly to the mission of an annual event at our school called "Respect for All Week."

Each year in February, our school plans activities "to build, promote, and maintain safe and inclusionary school communities and environments on behalf of all students, staff, and community members."

Having the opportunity for a well-known author speak to my students will help make "Respect for all Week" a memorable experience with an important message.
