This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Help my students document their authentic learning experiences solving a crime scene, investigating an acid spill, and making soap this year with a set of digital cameras!
I am a public school teacher in an urban district in Missouri.
Students in my 11th grade
Chemistry class will work hard to learn the skills and theories behind matter, bonding, and reactions. Then they'll engage in real-world learning experiences that I've designed to apply their knowledge of Chemistry.
My Project
Throughout the year, students will participate in various authentic learning experiences tied to the Chemistry curriculum. Documenting and reporting on these experiences is an essential skill for building writing and inquiry skills. My goal is that at the end of the year, students will have a digital laboratory notebook full of authentic experiences to share with friends, family, and even college admissions committees. A set of digital cameras would allow students to take pictures of these experiences and include them in their digital laboratory notebooks to document the Science happening!
Your help will make it possible for my students to document the real-world Chemistry happening in our classroom.
These inquiry based projects will impact not only their Chemistry experience, but provide them with higher-level thinking skills necessary for college and beyond.
