My students need the opportunity to experience, apply, and extend the Social Studies curriculum they are studying this year in 4th grade Texas history by visiting the Texas State Capitol and Museum.

My Students
My students are very unique! We are a low socioeconomic title 1 magnet school filled with a diverse population that represents over 75 countries and languages.
My students are hungry for knowledge in every way possible.
My students LOVE to learn about the world around them. They are eager to learn the who, when, what, where and whys about Texas. We would like to make their 4th grade history come alive so they can indulge and fulfill that hunger for knowledge.
My Project
This trip will allow the social studies curriculum that my students are studying this year to come alive. A textbook can only do so much, but the experience of seeing the actual places, grave sites, buildings and artifacts for yourself makes it seem even more REAL.
This trip will be an opportunity of a life time for many of my students.
Many of my students have never traveled outside of the Dallas county area. This trip will take them on an adventure from the beginning of Texas being established all the way to the current day events that are taking place at the state capitol. Plus, it allows my students to see different jobs that they can strive for as they achieve success in their educational career. This trip will be an educational experience that these life long learners will never forget.
