My Students
4th grade students are hard at work, earning the funds needed to travel to Austin, Texas. They will learn firsthand about Texas' history, government, and the legislative process as they visit the Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum and Texas State Capitol. Please help us support their efforts!
Our students are curious, eager learners.
Many are first-generation Americans and are excited to learn everything possible about their home state of Texas. In fact, they are enthusiastic about almost everything! We are a magnet school that attracts students who want to pursue a more specialized education. Our students are high achievers and problem solvers. At the same time, many receive free and reduced lunches and are otherwise in need of financial assistance. This makes their accomplishments all the more impressive.
My Project
We would like to capitalize on the enthusiastic nature of our students and take their learning a step further. A field trip such as this one, will provide enriching experiences and create knowledge that will last a lifetime. It is our hope that as a result of this trip students will gain an even greater appreciation for the richness of Texas History and the importance of the state government. The end result could very well be that this firsthand experience will translate into a strong sense of citizenship and appreciation for the history and judicial/democratic processes of our country.
Fourth grade students learn all about Texas history and government during the school year.
By visiting the state capitol, it will show them how the knowledge they gained about Texas is actually applied in the state government. By visiting the Bob Bullock Museum, they will view firsthand many artifacts that represent what they just learned in class. This field trip will provide an opportunity to visit a place they may never be able to visit on their own with their limited resources.
